Sint Maarten Soldiers wins round in Aruba

DETSXM , a team from the marine detachment from Sint Maarten, was the best military team of the 30th edition of the Tour of Aruba, which took place on the island last weekend. The round is a 72 kilometer recurring running event, organized by Marine Barracks Savaneta in collaboration with Aruba security partners.

Due to the tropical daytime temperatures, this event takes place during darkness. The route, on both paved and unpaved roads, is a big challenge for both the runners and the organization every time.
The event started in 1971 as an initiative of two Marines. Participation in the round is possible for everyone, in addition to military personnel from the Caribbean, there are also many participants from, for example, Aruba and other islands in the region. The starting shot of the edition was given by the governor of Aruba, Alfonso Boekhoudt.
