First corona death on St. Eustatius
For the first time, a resident of Sint Eustatius who was infected with Covid-19 has died, the government has announced. It concerns a patient who was transferred to Sint Maarten earlier this year for medical treatment.

Sint Eustatius has just over 3000 inhabitants and has remained free of infections for a large part of the pandemic. A new infection was registered at the end of last year. That rose to 132 cases from December 28 to January 14. No figures have been released since January 15. On that day there were 113 infections.

Only the even smaller island of Saba (about 2000 inhabitants) has so far remained without corona deaths of all the Caribbean islands of the Kingdom. In Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, a total of 495 corona deaths have been reported since the start of the pandemic; of which most on Curaçao (207) and the least on Bonaire (26).
