Sint Maarten predominantly infected with Delta variant
Sint Maarten predominantly infected with Delta variant
Appeals continue to be made for St Maarteners who are yet to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to so do especially with the 2021 hurricane season.
Minister of Public Health Omar Ottley says Sint Maarten is averaging five new COVID cases a day and samples returning from the Netherlands show Sint Maarten is predominantly infected with the Delta variant.
This is the last month of Sint Maarten’s mass vaccination campaign, with the public health minister urging persons to protect themselves. Sint Maarten is also vaccinating children aged 12 years and up.
Ottley is calling on families to protect their kids and loved ones with the vaccine, especially as Sint Maarten is in the midst of the hurricane season. He says vulnerable families should get vaccinated as Sint Maarten would hate to have a fourth wave during the process of recovering from a hurricane.
He was speaking during the weekly Council of Ministers briefing.
