En dat is angst”, verklaarde de officier in de rechtszaal. Het valt op dat er een grote terughoudendheid bestaat om ‘op naam’ mee te werken aan het onderzoek of om verklaringen af te leggen; uit angst voor de gevolgen hiervan.

Dit onderzoek heeft niet geleid tot vervolging van enige verdachte. Vanwege het belang van het onderzoek heeft de Procureur-Generaal van het OM Carib in 2020 opdracht gegeven tot een review.

Naar aanleiding van deze review werd er een onderzoeksteam gevormd uit medewerkers van KPC en het Recherche Samenwerkingsteam (RST) en kreeg het onderzoek een doorstart onder de naam Inex 2.0.

„Dit onderzoeksteam is met nieuwe energie aan de slag gegaan. Ondanks dat er inmiddels tijd was verlopen, was er nog steeds een zwaarwegend opsporingsbelang”, vertelde de officier van justitie gisteren.

Door de heersende angst is het opsporingswerk bemoeilijkt maar het opnieuw analyseren van eerdere resultaten en nieuw opsporingswerk heeft het onderzoek toch verder gebracht. Het is niet langer beperkt tot de inbraak; ook een aanlanding van drugs op 15 september 2018, waarbij 340 kilo drugs in beslag is genomen, en de handel in de weggenomen verdovende middelen na afloop van de inbraak werden onderzocht.

Daarnaast is het team gedurende het onderzoek ook op andere strafbare feiten gestuit die zijn meegenomen. Het onderzoek heeft geleid tot verschillende aanhoudingen en het einddossier dat nu ter beoordeling aan het gerecht is voorgelegd.

Na eerdere pro-forma- en regiezittingen is de inhoudelijke behandeling afgelopen woensdag gestart en was het gisteren tijd voor het requisitoir van het OM ten aanzien van de verdachten. In totaal zijn er acht verdachten, waarvan vijf vastzitten en één een voormalig politieagent. De zaak wordt gedaan door twee officieren.
