Latest On Tourists Gone Wild And With More Photos. The police came out with a statement about visitors yesterday. Americans are here, catching not Covid19, but Court cases in St Maarten. The videos below have been organized.

St Maarten is an island that can have a full harbour, without incident. Suddenly with the reopening of borders and the influx of tourists who might just be coming out of lock downs back home, there seems to be a lot more incidents than usual.

One of the issues is the unlimited, unrestricted, very cheap if not free liquor. A bottle of rum is about one American dollar and fifty cents at the store. Some people are just one Long Island Ice Tea away from jail.

The couple who assaulted the police are now using their lawyers to apologise. They’re apologising, because they sobered up. And woke up in a Third World, hell hole jail, in a foreign country.

Our jails and penitentiary system is so decrepit and inhumane, they have been sued for inhumane treatment and conditions…repeatedly. Our government won’t fix it, because they know that they are fixing it up for themselves. Our government is using the fact that our prisons are inhumane. They have the power to fix it, but they won’t, because then they won’t be able to stay out of jail.

I bet these Americans thought that their jail cells would be nice, like our beaches and hotels. No my friend, ten Man Jams in one cell. All the men in one tiny cell. That’s right, if they put them above the police station, the guy is in trouble, because space is limited. So he won’t be the first or last tourist fighting with ten men for the right to the cardboard to sleep on the floor.

If he’s lucky, he won’t be lumped in with rival gang members being held in the same cell.

The female, is actually luckier in that she most likely won’t have to share a cell, but dude’s going to be in there with the schizophrenics, and addicts withdrawing etc, so yeah they’re apologising.

They displayed injuries that looked like road rash. From falling, possibly being dragged.

They got 8 more days in detention, that is pure spite because she hit a police officer. Last year there was a shooting, attempted murder. They were let out on their own recon.

With the additional 8 days, they may be transported to The Point Blanch Prison, because ironically, the inhumane prison is more humane than the holding cells. The KPSM police didnt even put toilets in the holding cells until the 2000’s, so they’re still lucky.

Also, they’re lucky that they’re American, but this is still not Anguilla. Had they pulled this French St Martin, they would be Basseterre prison in Guadeloupe.

I am one of the foremost experts on St Maarten jails. I have been locked up for dissident and anti government corruption activity. That makes me an expert. I also experienced the jail after it moved from Backstreet to E Camille. Drunken brawling at carnival, I ended up in jail. No toilet, just a hole in the ground.

Back in the day…. like 2015 or so, they would’ve taken her to the station, have those big fat semi retired, female linebacker looking police officers, and beat her ass. That was the system before viral videos and Dutch intervention.

The jail food is prepared at the prison and sent to the jail. I refused food, I fasted until I got the hell out.

But these two look like they like food, so not eating might bother them. I guarantee they will lose weight… I doubt that they will extend their detention after the 8 additional. That would just be cruel and unusual punishment for kneeing Officer Hensley Roumou in the nuts. He needs to stop having kids anyway.

They both got some weight on them, they both can fight, they should be alright.

Over the last week, the Sint. Maarten Police have had to provide assistance in a number of instances, where visitors to the country were involved in cases of vandalism and relational (domestic) violence.

While Police is aware that Sint Maarten is a very popular tourist destination, lawbreaking will not be tolerated by anyone – visitors or residents. People committing criminal acts in the country are warned that the applicable laws of Sint Maarten are for everyone and that all laws must be respected.

Police urge visitors to be safe and law abiding while on vacation in the country.

Video and photo updates added below.

Detention of tourists extended to eight days
Two Americans tourists are having a very different vacation than they hoped for when they booked tickets to Sint Maarten. The man and woman are currently spending time in the holding cells of the Philipsburg Police Station for threatening the lives of workers of a bar, disruptive behavior in public, and damage of property. The woman is also held for assaulting a police officer.

Their stay in police custody was extended to eight days on Wednesday by the Judge of Instruction. They have been in police custody since their arrest on Sunday night.

The incident in Cole Bay, for which the duo are detained by police, was caught on camera by several onlookers.

The Prosecutor’s Office OM SXM said any assault on the country’s police officers by anyone – tourist or resident – will not be tolerated and the law will be applied. Similarly, disruptive behavior and property damage will not go unpunished.

OM SXM is aware that Sint Maarten, as a country that is tourism dependent, relies on visitors to help its economy. However, this does not mean that breaking the laws by visitors will be overlooked, especially when it comes to any disregard for law enforcement officers executing their duties.

American tourist couple was arrested in Simpson Bay around 10:00pm Sunday for disorderly conduct, destruction of property and assaulting a police officer following a night at Topper’s Restaurant and Bar that turned into intoxicated belligerence.

The incident started after the man reportedly forced himself into Topper’s kitchen and started destroying plates and glasses. He was said to be heavily intoxicated.

Two police officers and a member of the St. Maarten Volunteer Corps VKS responded to the incident.

Bystanders captured videos of the arrest on their mobile phones, which circulated widely in the hours after the incident.

One video begins with the man and woman being handcuffed and physically restrained on the ground in Topper’s parking lot by the responding officers. The man was shirtless, and the woman was in her underwear. It is unclear why they were not properly clothed.

The man screamed, “Get off me!” while the VKS officer knelt on his back and, despite being in St. Maarten, he quoted lines from 2002 Jamaican gangster movie “Shottas”. He tried kicking the VKS officer, but the blows were hopelessly weak because of his position lying face-down in the dirt.

While being led away to the waiting police pickup truck, the man interacted with bystanders. “I’m a gangster. You touch me in the United States and you [will – Ed.] die,” he told an onlooker who was telling him to calm down.

When the onlooker reminded him that he was not in the United States, the man said, “[Expletive] that! I’m gonna die with dignity!”

He struggled with the officer who was trying to get him to sit in the police truck, and the officer had to roughly force him in the vehicle.

Another video captured the following moments. The video showed a police officer crumpled over in agony after apparently being hit in the groin. The woman was now sitting handcuffed in a private vehicle at the roadside.

The VKS officer accused her of kicking his colleague and she hotly denied it. “I didn’t kick him! You see me kick him?” she said.

Suddenly the handcuffed man opened the police truck’s door, and the VKS officer turned away from the woman to help restrain the unruly arrestee.

The woman then saw her chance to attack the injured officer, who was still on his hands and knees in pain. With the VKS officer distracted by her partner, she jumped out of the private car and sharply kicked the injured officer in the stomach.

The half-naked and handcuffed women then bolted and made it to the other side of the street before falling face-first into the pavement when another officer tried to grab her. She was then dragged back across the pavement to the police truck.

The couple was later transported to the Philipsburg police station for questioning
